Dynasty Mock Draft Simulator: How to Practice Before Your Real Draft

Mock drafting is the most effective way to prepare for a dynasty startup draft. Every mock teaches you something — how the board falls, when positions run, where value hides in the later rounds. The managers who do 10-15 mocks before their real draft make better decisions because they've already seen most scenarios play out.

How the AI Managers Draft

The AI managers in this simulator use value-based drafting with positional need awareness — the same approach used by experienced dynasty managers. Each AI team tracks its roster construction and applies a multiplier when a position becomes urgent. Some randomness is added to prevent predictable patterns — occasionally an AI team reaches for a player, just like real managers do.

This means mock results won't be identical every time. The board will fall differently, the AI will make different decisions, and you'll face different scenarios — which is exactly what you want from mock draft practice.

What to Focus on in Each Mock

Round 1-2 (superflex)

Watch the QB run. Count how many QBs go before your pick. If you're not taking a QB in round 1 or 2 in superflex, understand why — and whether the player you're taking instead is worth the positional sacrifice.

Rounds 3-6

This is where WR and RB depth is established. Notice which players are available at your pick and which ones you consistently miss. Those are your real targets.

Rounds 7-12

The middle rounds separate good drafters from great ones. Elite managers find value here that others overlook — young players, developing targets, handcuffs with upside.

Rounds 13+

Pure upside. Take the youngest players with the most long-term potential regardless of current role.

Format-Specific Mock Strategy

Superflex startup

Plan to take at least one QB in rounds 1-2. If you don't, you'll spend the rest of the draft patching a structural weakness. Mock this format multiple times until the QB timing feels natural.

TEP leagues

Elite TEs rise significantly in value. Mock with your TEP setting enabled and notice how early Brock Bowers and Trey McBride go — then adjust your real draft plan accordingly.

Large leagues (14 teams)

Depth matters more. Players who'd be free agents in a 10-team league are legitimate starters in 14-team formats. Mock with the correct team count to see which depth players have real value in your format.
